Imbricate Structure

An imbricate structure is a geological feature where layers or slices of rock are stacked on top of each other, typically due to compressional forces. These structures are common in thrust fault systems and accretionary prisms. Understanding imbricate structures is important in studying mountain building processes, tectonics, and the deformation of the Earth’s crust.
